Lockdown and Me

The minute lockdown began I could sense that things were not going to be the same as before. May May also possibly sensed this and we were thrust into a situation where we were unable to go out to play gyms as usual and see people. But it was a opportunity to have a hands on effect on our children’s development, such as doing more arts and crafts with May May, teaching her the alphabet using her favourite book from The StoryTime Lab daily to help with her speech. Zenayah has developed so much and started to roll onto her tummy as soon as you place her on her back!

Thankfully the weather has been really good and we've been able to go out in the garden, go for walks, play with the bubble machine and have a kickabout as well. May May loves our kickabouts and the way she strikes the ball has surprised me due to the level of technique she has. I think I may have to get her into football training!

At times Lockdown has been hard especially when every day feels the same and I have struggled to adapt to the change mentally. It has put a strain on me in regard to not seeing family and friends which is hard but I understand why it has to happen.

I have coped by having my partner and kids with me as all this time together has brought us all much closer. We have also had some great news which is we have a new home to move into! We are absolutely over the moon about this and we can’t wait to start working on our new home. Having your own home is so important in having the foundations for a settled life.

I look at the Lockdown as an opportunity to spend quality time with my kids and I can't ask for anything more than this. I have also used this opportunity to study a Level 2 Business and Administration course so I can gain the skills for an Admin role in the near future.

 Hope you enjoyed reading this.

Daddy and Daughters First Carnival

I heard that Mics cousin Sasha was planning to put together a band for Huddersfield Carnival called Majestic Mas a few months ago. So I asked if I could join as Mics and May May were going to perform already. I had never played at a carnival before and I have always wanted to perform.  So Sasha and her family started to create the costumes for us, working tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect. The theme for this was Black Panther Children of T’Challa. I was immediately sold with this as I’ve always been a massive fan of comic book superheroes and this felt natural for me.  So it came to the week of the carnival and I was feeling so nervous about playing in front of such big crowds. But I didnt want to let Sasha down as I fully support what she was doing. I tried my costume on and it felt amazing on me.  On Friday night before carnival me and my family went to a Glow street party, which is the night before the big day. I  absolutely loved the atmo...

The Proposal To My Fiancé

It all started from a epiphany I had while coming home from work, i just knew in my mind that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with mics. We had only been together for a year and a half and were expecting a baby as well. I was scared she was going to say no as it might have been too soon. So when i got back to mics mums house I told her about my plan to propose. I will never forget how her face changed into shock and excitement. She told me about when she was proposed to and it was around the same time as me and mics. That gave me the confidence to go ahead with buying a ring. When I bought the ring I felt like I wanted to burst with excitement but then I ha d to think how am I going to ask her. I thought of so many elaborate ways to do it. But I knew we were going on holiday to Benidorm for my first time and it felt right to do it there. I brought the ring and I showed it to mics parents and told them of how I wanted to propose and they were both really pleased with the...

5 Month Reflection Of Our Princess

This week our May May officially turned 5 months old and I couldn't be more happier with how her development is going so far. She is so alert these days and has started to notice her hands and feet more often. It has been a massive learning experience for me as this is my first time being a parent but it has all been worthwhile.  I have struggled with nighttime routines with her as this is when she gets more agitated from teething and growing pains. Its hard to see her in distress and i try to give her as much cuddles as possible which sometimes calms her down but over the course of time she has become more playful.  I love it when I enter a room and she gives me the biggest gummy smile. It totally fills my heart up when she does that and it immediately makes everything else minimal. May May has also learnt how to roll over onto her stomach which is a joy to see and how she has the ability to move her body in different positions while laying on her back.  I ...
